twisted sketches #74

Hello all! I have my card today for sketch #74.
One of my favorite thing about cards is getting to do something girlie.  Most of my layouts are about my boys so when I make a card I usually get my pink on lol.  I cut that felt on the sizzix.  The background paper is My Little  Shoebox, the sticker is Echo Park, the button is Jenni Bowlin and the doilies are from Cosmo Cricket.  The twist was "stamp" and I stamped my sentiment, but the stamps were not in the package and I have no idea where they came from.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

New Balance

Finally the sneaks for the Scrapbooking From The Inside Out September "Balance" kit are up! The bottom three are mine and I am really excited abou this kit.  This has definitely been my favorite and I had all 5 of my DT layouts finished in less than a week! That is crazy fast for me because I never make more than one layout a day.  Each page took less 30 minutes to make, that is how easily everything just fell together.  I cant wait to share my favorite next week!

READ TO GROW

Helloooo! I have my last layout from the Scrapbooking from the Inside Out August "Growth" kit today. I love movies, but nothing sticks with you like a great book.  I love to read to my kids, and some of those kids books are really good.  Hopefully this is something that will stick with them because when you're from a rural area books can really broaden your horizons.
I loved cutting up that American Crafts hexagon paper, very zen.  I used the Ranger Denim color wash on that wooden dragonfly and it really gives great coverage.  That's one set of thickers, I just pulled the blue top off and misted the brown ones.  I always love my white pen on dark cardstock.  I got the signo uniball white pen and it is the best thing going in white pens!  Thanks for looking and any and all book recommendations are always welcome.

TGIF AND A WINNER

Hello all! I can't tell you how happy I am it's Friday! I don't work outside the home so usually Friday doesn't mean much to me, but this is our second full week of homeschooling and today I'm thrilled.  First up is the My Little Shoebox stamp winner

Michelle send me you info to joshnwillsma@gmail.com

Now I have another layout from the August "Growth" kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.

I love to grow my own food, unfortunately my golden retriever loves to eat the plants so right now we can only have a window garden.  This year we germinated our own seeds and everything! Unfortunately my oldest son cut down all the snow peas, but he said he was being Jack and he didnt want the giant to get us so who can argue with that?  We did enjoy the glory of fresh basil all summer long.  Here is the tutorial of how I made that green ruffle. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Are you tired of hearing how much I love him yet?

I hope not!  I have another layout from the August "Growth" kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.  It's another ode to my dear Will.  This is pretty much all American Crafts except for the flower which is from Basic Grey.

I cut a 3" heart on my cricut and then hand cut the waves I layered on it.  The twine I used to hand stitch some of the rain drops is from Pink Paislee and is the only thing not in the kit.  I have noticed I have a thing for hearts and 8.5x11 layouts lately.  Also I have a giveaway! I recieved this set of stamps in one of my Scrapbook Trends goodie boxes and I have to say farm stuff is not my thing, but they are totally cute!

If you would like to win these stamps just leave a comment and I will draw a winner and post on Friday August 19.  Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Im torn

Hi! Today I have my card I made for Twisted Sketches #72, and the twist for this card was torn.  I am not a paper tearer.  I think it looks great when other people do it, but it just feels wrong when I have at least 3 pairs of perfectly good scissors ;).  If you look at my gallery you will not find a single scrap of torn paper so this twist definitely took me out of my comfort zone.
Cardstock: colorbok, patterned paper, chipboard: October Afternoon, sentiment: Echo Park, Button: Bobunny, Twine: Divine Twine.

I hope my paper tearing skills are at least not painfull to look at, and I actually really like this card.  I think the torn paper goes well with the vintage feel of the 5 and dime paper and doilies.  Are you born a paper tearer or can it be an acquired taste?  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

I feel like a nut

You know the almond joy/mounds commercials "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't"? Thats how I feel about flowers.  Sometimes I feel like a flower, most of the time I don't.  Except this time I REALLY felt like a flower, like a whole bunch all at one time ;).

This layout I made with the August "Growth" kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.  Most of the flowers are handmade, except the big pink one and the chipboard one.  I would say this is definitely the most Prima I have ever used on a page in my life, but I really like it.  I  was in love with colored cardstock and couldn't bring myself to cut it or cover much of it up.  The title is "I hate getting older, but I love being wiser."  Which is the absolute truth, there is no fun in gray hairs and marionette lines.  Can I get a round of applause for my first in focus self pic without looking through the peep hole?  My camera doesn't have the live view option, so I'm going to blame that for it taking so many tries lol.  So what is your favorite thing about getting older?  Mine is knowing when to shut up, which is now.

I miss the beach

I saw the topic for Paper Issues was "Make a Splash" and I immediately thought of a layout I had in the July issue of Scrapbook Trends that I can now share on my blog.  It is one of my all time favorite layouts that I have made, as is usually the case with my faves it has one of my favorite pictures and came together in a snap.
I have a confession, the stamping on the right that really balances out the layout was made to cover a drop of Dr. Pepper!  Some accidents do turn out to be happy ones lol.  Thanks for looking, have a great day.

Going to the dogs

Well it's August, I know I can't believe it either.  Where has the summer gone?  The good news is I can share my layouts from the August "Growth" kit from Scrapbooking From the Inside Out.  Have I told you about how I stole my husband's dog?  I have always liked small girl dogs, so when my husband brought home a boy golden retriever I was none too pleased.  Our 7 yr old mini schnauzer had passed away a few months before and I just wasnt ready for another dog yet.  So for a few months I just ignored him, which was not easy as he is most insistent.  Then my husband had to leave for a month of military training and I had to start taking care of Fat Charlie (who has never been and is not fat).  I think the lonely nights got to me and eventually he was sleeping in my bed lol.  By the time my husband came home Charlie had little to no interest in him anymore.  He is now content to spend his days at my feet or following me with his nose against the back of my thigh.

This months concept of growth was a hard one for me and most of my pages are quite literal.  This growth chart is the one outside the box idea that I had.  That Hambly woodgrain paper was favorite thing in the entire kit, and those Prima flocked rubons were fun too!
