Today I'm sharing another layout from the July "Independence" kit from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. My favorite thing about this page is the paper, the kraft papers from the last release by American Crafts are some of my all time favorite papers. 

I made this layout an 8 1/2 by 11 and I used the scraps to cut out my doilies that I popped up.  I think I could wallpaper my house with those doilies ;).  The inspiration for the idea for this layout is that I've been an independent thinker my whole life (sometimes called hardheaded, but I prefer independent), and the quote on the photo I found on pinterest "warning: reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of beauty".  Thanks for looking and have a great day!

I'm a treehugger

That's right I have literally hugged a tree.  I used my tree love as inspirations for Twisted Sketches #68.

The sentiment is a quote from Hal Borland and I used a butterfly stamp to mimick the leaves and limbs of the trees.  I also used pop dots for the trunks of the trees.  This is my favorite card I have made in awhile so I hope  you like it, thanks for looking.

double edged sword

My oldest son is autistic and so the level of independence he will achieve in life is up in the air.  We have a special bond, a bond I don't share with my youngest son (who I love just as much I promise :)).  I can read him like a book, which is a good thing because most of the time he's not going to tell me what he's thinking. This relationship is so special to me, it's painful to think that my biggest dream for him (independence) would also mean the end of the almost blind faith he has in me.  It is definitely a tradeoff I hope to make someday, even though it will break my heart. That was the inspiration for the my dream/my fear layout I made with this month's Independence kit from Scrapbooking From the Inside Out.

I used the pics because I was journaling about my hopes that he would grow and blossom.  On the bright side even if my dreams don't come true I will still have something wonderful in my life.  To make those clouds I cut out two different size hearts on the cricut and placed them on their sides.  I love to use this design for two photo layouts when the photos are different orientations.  It's not anything new, but it sure works! July's theme is "Indepenence" and this page is about my 4yo who thinks he is 16! I don't even want to think about what he will be like when he actually is 16.  This layout is cricut heavy lol.  I cut my hearts on the cricut, then cut the scalloped circles on the cricut also.  I layered the circles on the hearts and then flipped them over and trimmed the edges with an exacto. I filed the edges so they would have a seamless look.  The ribbon is just a bit I  trimmed off of some Prima rose ribbon, but dont worry you will see the actual roses later.

Debbie Gibson flashback

You would think that with 2 boys the "blue" twist for Twisted Sketches card sketch #66 would've been a breeze, but you would be wrong.  Maybe I was just overthinking it and I should've just made a blue card but that would've been to darn easy ;).  Then the immortal wisdom imparted to me at age 12 by a derby hatted, peg rolled jeans Debbie Gibson came rushing back and the "Out of the Blue" card was born.
