Do work

When I first became a member at Studio Calico I did all the challenges every week, then I got lazy.  I have incorporated challenges into ideas I was already working on, but I hadnt really had fun with what the challenges were about.  This week I decided to get my butt in gear because there were two challenges that were just fab.  First is the Sunday sketch based on the most amazing layout by DT member Emily Pitts.  This is probably the most literal translation of a sketch I have ever done.  I usually only keep one or two elements of the sketch and take a heap of artistic license.  This sketch however was pretty much perfect and I didnt want to muck it by changing stuff around for changing stuff around's sake.  Here is take, click on the Sunday sketch link to see the sketch and the original layout that inspired it.

The challenge was by DT member Stephanie Howell.  Her challenge was to scrap something something funny.  You can click on this link to see her amazing page.  I knew right away the photo I wanted to use.  I had it forever and probably would have never gotten around to scrapping it if it wasnt for this challenge.  I found this plaque in Corbin Ky and thought it was hilarious.  After I posted it to the gallery a few other members said they had seen the plaque in all these different places, it was pretty cool.  One lady even found them for sale on amazon.  So here is that page

There is still plenty of time to play along, I think challenges are open until sometime Saturday.  Dont be lazy like me lol, so as I say as not as I do.  Oh by the way have you seen this plaque lol.

inspired by

Music, as of late anyway.   Seems everytime Im listening to music some lyric reminds me of a specific picture which then inspires me to do a layout.  I seem to go in spurts as to what inspires.  My last spurt was over magazine ads.  I had a folder of ads I had torn out and then just like that it was over.  I wonder what my next muse will be? Until then here are my recent projects all inspired by some of my favorite songs.

inspired by the killers "mr brightside"

inspired by coldplays "yellow"

thanks for looking and what has been inspiring you lately?

feeling felt

I have been totally inspired by the work of a lady who as nice as she is talented, the fabulous Valerie Managan.
I saw some amazing felt work on some cards she had posted on her blog and caught the felt bug right then and there.  I picked some up on my next trip to my local craft shop, then spent quite a bit of time just staring at it lol.  I finally decided to try to treat it just like paper and finally had some ideas.  One of the projects I was going to share has been picked up for publication, My very first card!!  Thanks Valerie for the inspiration.  Here are the other projects I have to share with you today.

1 line 3 different ways

With all the new product coming out after CHA it's so easy to just push what you already have aside.  I decided to buck the trend and finally use some Basic Grey Max & Whiskers.  This line is just as cute as when it came out and I was particularly inspired by some of the woolies.  I made a layout, a card, and a tag.  I have to say the tag is my favorite.  Hexagons are really in right now and I cut these out on the cricut.  I used some as misting masks and some on the tag.  I hope youre inspired to look through your stash as remember why you fell in love with the product you already have, and I hope you're not so in love with it you wont use it!

Paper Issues

The challenge this month over at Paper Issues was for the birds lol! Seriously it was to link any projects with birds or butterflies or something with wings.  I immediately thought of this layout which a little older but still one of my favorite layouts and I hadnt shared it on blog yet

that quilt pattern folding technique on the bottom was inspired by the always amazing Davinie Fiero.  Thanks for looking have a great day!
